What is SculpSure?
Dr. Nancy Chen describes SculpSure as a revolutionary laser fat removal solution that can improve body contours while treating unwanted fat in a minimally invasive manner. This FDA-cleared laser device can quickly and effectively eliminate any excess body fat that may not be responding well to lifestyle changes such as increased exercise and nutritional adjustments. It uses advanced laser energy to break down fat and allows the body to naturally flush out the cells through the lymphatic system over several months. The results are gradual but eliminate downtime, recovery, and the increased risk of infection typically associated with surgical interventions.

Does SculpSure® really work?
In studies, Cynosure (the maker of SculpSure® reports that up to 24% of fat cells in each treatment site were destroyed after a single treatment session. This reduction in fat volume was measured by MRI.
How much does SculpSure® cost?
The overall cost of your treatment varies based on several factors. These factors include the total number of treatments required to achieve your goals, the size of the treatment area, and the number of locations that need treatment. While SculpSure is not covered by insurance (it is an elective, cosmetic procedure), we can discuss affordable financing options through Cherry and CareCredit. These payment arrangements spread the full cost of treatment over several months (or longer). No-interest financing is available for qualified borrowers.
Is SculpSure® for weight loss?
No. SculpSure® is not intended for weight loss. It is designed for non-invasive body sculpting. In fact, Cynosure notes that the maximum permissible BMI for treatment is 49.
How does SculpSure® compare to CoolSculpting®?
Both treatments are designed to target, damage, and eliminate fat cells from treated areas of the body (and certain parts of the face). These treatments differ in how they work, with SculpSure® using heat to damage the fat and CoolSculpting® delivering cold to do so.
What are the benefits of SculpSure® when compared to CoolSculpting®?
SculpSure® can be completed faster (in 25 minutes versus 30 to 60 minutes for CoolSculpting®). SculpSure is also associated with minimal discomfort, as most of our patients describe the experience as a soothing sensation of warmth. Additionally, SculpSure’s capabilities extend beyond fat reduction; it can also have a tightening effect, as the heat generated by the laser energy stimulates collagen and elastin production. Lastly, there are no known serious risks with SculpSure® treatment.
What are the most common side effects?
In studies, the most common side effects include mild and temporary redness, swelling, and tenderness of the treated areas. Initial bruising was reported, along with firm lumps or nodules. These effects, too, usually resolve on their own.
Where does the fat go?
Once the treated fat cells are damaged, they are removed by your body’s lymphatic system in a natural, safe, and gradual manner. This is no different than how other cellular waste is processed and removed by the lymphatic system. As these cells go away, this process reduces the thickness of the fat layer in the treated area(s).
How can I maintain my results?
SculpSure is FDA-cleared for permanent fat reduction; however, fat cells in areas that were not treated can still affect your appearance. Additionally, lingering fat cells in the treatment area can impact your long-term results. As you gain weight, the remaining cells grow. For this reason, it’s essential to maintain a healthy weight. A healthy lifestyle, balanced diet, and regular exercise support sustained results. Protecting your skin from sun damage and maintaining a healthy skin care regimen that is tailored to your needs also helps with the loss of elasticity that occurs over time, and that can also affect your long-term results.
