It’s very minimal! The perforations made by the needles begin to heal within ~30 minutes of your leaving. You may notice some pink-toned/red skin in the treated areas. This discoloration lasts for about 24 hours. Therefore, we estimate that the downtime will last between one and two days. It doesn’t interfere with your busy schedule and active lifestyle.
How do I care for my skin afterward?
Cleanse gently. Avoid abrasive skincare products and ingredients, such as acids and chemical exfoliants. Reintroduce your usual skincare products, only as advised by one of our providers. Keep the treated areas moist to protect against scabbing and dryness. Now, more than ever, it’s essential to use SPF every day and limit extended sun exposure. Lastly, resist the temptation to pick, scratch, touch, or rub your healing skin.
Does insurance cover Scarlet RF?
Insurance typically covers only procedures deemed medically necessary. Any cosmetic or elective procedures are generally not covered. There may be rare circumstances where your specific insurance policy covers this treatment; for instance, to fade severe scars caused by traumatic injuries, illnesses, or associated with a required surgery. But at Pua Manu MedSpa, we don’t accept health insurance, and you are expected to self-pay for treatment.

In the weeks leading up to your procedure, be particularly vigilant about wearing and reapplying SPF. Avoid tanning. Do not take aspirin or other blood thinners as advised by your doctor.
