What should I expect during the procedure?
Your treatment starts with a consultation to identify the treatment areas. The treatment lasts about 25 minutes but requires multiple sessions to achieve the desired results. Before your treatment, discontinue anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDS) like ibuprofen (Advil) because they can suppress your body’s inflammatory response to treatment. Besides, avoid sun exposure before treatment and any laser treatments (like hair removal) for about two weeks before your treatment.Â
The laser energy heats the underlying fat cells while a cooling mechanism keeps the skin comfortable. You may feel alternating sensations of warmth and cooling, with mild tingling. The heat indicates that the laser works, breaking down fat cells without harming surrounding tissues.
You may experience post-treatment swelling and bruising. However, these will clear up in a few days and are easily manageable with over-the-counter pain medications like Tylenol. Results can be seen in as little as six weeks, although you’ll experience peak results after 12 weeks. Dr. Chen will schedule follow-up sessions to assess the results and determine if additional treatments are needed.

Is SculpSure permanent?
ScupSure removes nearly 25% of the fat cells in the treatment area. Once removed, fat cells won’t regenerate, so SculpSure is considered a permanent treatment. However, it’s important to note that patients can gain weight after SculpSure because the treated area may still have a few fat cells remaining. So, patients should adhere to good nutrition and an optimal exercise regimen to maintain their results after treatment.Â
